Glass Lewis is pleased to announce the release of its 2014 Global Proxy Season Preview.  In this document, clients can find a market-specific overviews of the upcoming hot button issues, trends, and regulatory changes facing companies and shareholders this season.

As has been the trend in recent years, it appears that shareholder activism and engagement will continue to skyrocket throughout the world. We find that the spotlight continues to shine brightly on executive compensation in most markets, with a particular nod to France, Switzerland and the UK, all of which have new regulatory requirements which will spur further remuneration disclosures and ballot items. In the United States, while there have been no notable regulatory-driven changes, shareholders should pay heed to the increased volume of say-on-pay votes, with those companies electing for a three-year frequency back in the fray this spring. In Asia, while many markets make more subtle governance changes to increase shareholder confidence and attract international investors, the largest changes are clearly taking shape in India, where a New Companies Act promises broad boardroom reforms. Furthermore, Glass Lewis’ 2014 Global Proxy Season Preview concludes with a section summarizing key Glass Lewis policy changes for each of those markets. Enjoy!
