In a volatile and fast moving market, the ability to identify escalating risk at public companies is a critical factor in protecting your portfolio.
Glass Lewis' Risk Monitor is a web based application that provides a near real-time ranking of a company's relative risk.
Risk Monitor is aimed at providing institutional investors with the ability to easily identify heightened risk of their portfolio companies based on accounting, legal and regulatory matters that are often overlooked or poorly understood by sell side analysts.
The Glass Lewis Risk Monitor uses quantitative tools to analyze millions of data points to identify patterns that have been historical indicators of risk. It then ranks public companies based on their relative risk profile.
The Risk Monitor provides risk scores for over 4,200 North American securities. The risk profiles, generated in near real-time, summarized as percentile-based scores, are calculated by tracking more than thirty data patterns that Glass Lewis has identified as predictive of risk to shareholder value.
The scores reflect risk related to earnings quality, financial reporting, legal liability and business trends. The scores are regularly updated and adjusted to account for recent weakness/strength in a company's stock, as well as the relative valuation metrics.
Each company's score reflects its relative risk position within a user-defined universe, with the 100th percentile representing the highest risk ranking. Users can measure a company's relative risk score compared to their portfolio, an industry group, market cap or index of their choosing.
