Names Aaron Bertinetti as VP of Research & Engagement & Michael Vogele as Senior Director of North American Research.

San Francisco, Calif. (November 24, 2015) – Glass Lewis, the leading independent provider of global governance services, named Aaron Bertinetti as the Vice President of Research and Engagement, and Michael Vogele as the Senior Director of North American Research. The appointments to these newly created positions are designed to better serve customer needs and are reflective of the rapidly changing corporate governance landscape – from one of interactions driven primarily by shareholder voting to an era of broad, year-round engagement.

Mr. Bertinetti joined Glass Lewis’ Australian subsidiary CGI Glass Lewis in 2008. He was a key contributor to the growth of the research operation and Australian client base, and ultimately was promoted to General Manager in 2013. As GM of CGI Glass Lewis, Mr. Bertinetti oversaw all aspects of research and engagement relating to companies in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as business strategy for the region. He is an angel investor in dozens of technology-focused startups, and non-executive chairman of private gaming company Surprise Attack Pty. Ltd.

Mr. Vogele has 15 years’ experience in researching and developing products relating to environmental, social and governance issues. Most recently, he served as Director of Research for Germany-based proxy advisor IVOX GmbH from 2006 until Glass Lewis acquired IVOX in June of this year. At IVOX, he managed the research team responsible for all companies outside the Germanic markets and developed IVOX’s ESG ratings for German companies comprising the DAX 160. Prior to IVOX, Mr. Vogele was a Senior Analyst and ESG specialist at Institutional Shareholder Services.

“These moves signify the evolution and growth of our research services in conjunction with the extraordinary expansion of our clients’ engagement activities,” said Katherine Rabin, CEO of Glass Lewis. “Aaron and Michael’s experience across global markets and deep understanding of both the investor and corporate communities will have a tremendous impact on our research team and service offerings, and will foster innovations that are aligned with the current and future needs of our institutional clients.”

As VP of Research and Engagement, Mr. Bertinetti will lead a research organization that has grown to more than 200 members across five global office locations. The team comprises regional specialists for the 100+ markets covered by Glass Lewis, as well as experts within Glass Lewis’ issue-specific practices focused on the analysis of mergers and acquisitions, other financial transactions and contested meetings; compensation; and environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) issues. Mr. Vogele will report to Mr. Bertinetti and lead the research teams responsible for engaging with and analyzing ESG issues at annual general meetings for more than 6,500 North American companies.
